… hello ocean!
I think we’ll be out of cell distance for a good bit.
The bay bridge tunnel looms on the horizon — and we can turn north, finally with the wind behind us rather than facing us.
About as exciting as grainy Loch Ness Monster pics…
Coffee and Pinot Grigio on deck to greet the sun rising over Cape Charles, breakfast on the stove below. Pelicans afoot. Glassy sea.
We’re out here until 4 a.m., skirting now the mouth of the Potomac and Point Lookout. Beautiful, clear, Milky-Way-filled skies and a direct headwind. Big ships are racing past us in the dark, their silhouettes just dots of lights in the blackness. We can see the faint glows of Washington and Salisbury or Ocean City just behind us as we crawl south to the ocean.
Gin and tonic, Stella Artois, and roasted almonds as we tack about the mouth of the Choptank.
